Project and Program Management
Good Project and Program Management practices are the defining difference between success and failure in any area, from software development to energy projects, and from novel hardware releases to the launch of a new service.
Traditional project management processes known as the “Waterfall” method, originally formalized in 1930s Detroit, and later perfected by US General “Hap” Arnold during World War II, are currently being significantly improved by what are known as Agile processes, such as Scrum and KanBan. Opportunities to save resources and deliver higher success rates abound.
Project management is entering a golden age, with more firms in more sectors adopting formal project management processes than at any other time in history. The Project Management Institute has recently updated their traditional Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide to Version 6, and has added an exciting dimension by embracing the power of Agile project management.
